New School Year!

I just returned from my trip to Hong Kong & Beijing.

Stay tuned for photos. In a nutshell, it was an overwhelming but amazing trip!

It's April, and the new school year has started! (This is like US schools starting in September). I suppose it's symbolic with the beginning of spring- the blossoming of the sakura (cherry blossoms) and the new buds on all the trees... It's been Opening Ceremonies (2nd & 3rd year students) and Entrance Ceremonies (1st year students) and Goodbye Ceremonies (leaving teachers) and Club Ceremonies (recruiting new students to join clubs & sports).... The formality of it all is discouraging (and extremely boring in my case since it's standing in the frigid gym listening to speeches in Japanese for hours). I'm in charge of the ICC- the International Communication Club- so today we will be putting on a short but sweet little skit to try to get more students to join our happy little afterschool family.
