Kitchen in the middle with a living room and a bedroom (each 6-mat rooms), toilet room, shower room, and a little area for a bathroom sink and the washer/dryer.

I know, hard to believe, but yes, that's me on the bike! And yes, the smell has a little to do with the perception of the apartment.... (nice blog, glad to see that your dog has taken over your life!)

Laurie,

It sounds like you will be camping for a year. The area looks beautiful. Maybe you can petition your landlady to move into the teahouse. Afterall, you moving to Japan is a special occasion.

By the way, I had lunch with Mark H.today.

Laurie!
Rural Japan looks so beautiful. I guess the point of the flat is that you can get outside a lot.
Very proud of you for mastering the bicycle :-) But are those bare shoulders I see under your hat?

Laurie!! Sounds like you're having a great time! The apartment is great -- looks bigger than most in NY. Looks like you got a little tan from the bike ride. Also cute bowing students - no joke -- everyone looks really young ...

da pinti - it's not that i'm laughing at you....persay...if you will, i am laughing with you, the toilet, the 'camping'....the hat that only 'village women' wear, who do they think they are? so discriminating....;)....you look great and your place looks so great, despite the smell...hang in there, can't wait to read and hear about more!
